How to use the Split PDF tool
- Select a PDF or drop it onto the box. You will see how many pages it has.
- Choose Extract pages and type the pages to keep, for example 1-3, 7. Or choose Split every page.
- Click the button. Extracted pages download as one PDF; split pages download as a ZIP of single-page PDFs.
When to split a PDF
Large PDFs often contain more than you need to send. Splitting lets you share only the relevant part:
- Send one chapter or section of a long report or book.
- Submit a single page, such as the signed page of a contract or one month of a bank statement.
- Remove pages you do not want to share, like blank pages or internal notes.
- Separate a scan that captured several documents into one file.
- Get under an upload limit by sending fewer pages.

Extract or split every page?
Extract pages makes one new PDF from the pages you choose, which is best when you need a shorter version of a document. Split every page makes a separate PDF for each page, which is handy when a scan contains many one-page documents.
To put PDFs back together in a new order, use Merge PDF. To turn pages into pictures, use PDF to JPG.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract certain pages from a PDF?
Choose Extract pages and type the page numbers. Use commas for separate pages and a dash for ranges: '2, 5-8' keeps page 2 and pages 5 to 8 in a new PDF.
Can I change the page order?
Yes. Pages are saved in the order you type them, so '3, 1, 2' moves page 3 to the front.
How do I remove a page from a PDF?
Extract every page except the one you want to remove. For example, to delete page 4 of a 10-page PDF, type '1-3, 5-10'.
What does '8-' mean?
A range with no end runs to the last page, so '8-' means page 8 to the end. '-3' means pages 1 to 3.
Will the quality change?
No. Pages are copied exactly, with selectable text, images and links kept as they were.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Splitting happens in your browser, so your document stays on your device.
