Which PDF tool do you need?
PDF jobs fall into two groups: changing which pages a document has and how they sit, or changing what the file is made of.
Arrange the pages
- Merge PDF joins several PDFs into one, in the order you choose. Handy for sending a single application pack instead of five attachments.
- Split PDF does the reverse: pull out a range such as pages 3–7, or break a long file into one PDF per page.
- Rotate PDF fixes scanned pages that came out sideways or upside down, and saves the new orientation into the file so everyone sees it the right way up.
Change the file
- Compress PDF shrinks scanned and photo-heavy PDFs so they fit email and upload limits. Documents that are mostly text are already small and rarely shrink much.
- JPG to PDF turns photos or phone scans of paper into one PDF, with a choice of page size and margins.
- PDF to JPG does the opposite: each page becomes an image you can post, preview or paste into a slide.
A typical workflow
Say you photographed a signed form on your phone. Convert the photos with JPG to PDF, use Rotate PDF if a page came out sideways, merge it with the rest of your documents, then compress the result if the portal has a size limit. Each step takes seconds, and the file never leaves your device.
Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked in your PDF reader before these tools can open them. For photo-only jobs, see the image tools.
