How to use the Merge PDF tool
- Select two or more PDF files or drop them onto the box. The page count of each file is shown.
- Arrange the files in the order you want with the ↑ and ↓ buttons.
- Click Merge. A single file called merged.pdf is downloaded.
When you need to merge PDFs
Merging puts several PDF documents into one file, in the order you choose. It is a common requirement when you:
- Submit an application that accepts one upload, such as a CV, cover letter and certificates together.
- Send documents to an accountant or lawyer: invoices, statements and receipts as one file.
- Combine a report with its appendices, or scanned pages that were saved separately.
- Print a set of documents in one go.
Why merging in the browser matters
The documents people merge are often sensitive: contracts, IDs, bank statements, medical letters. Most online PDF services upload them to a server to process. This tool does the merge on your own device, so there is no upload wait and no copy of your documents anywhere else.
Tips
- Name your files with numbers (01-cv.pdf, 02-letter.pdf) so their order is obvious before you start.
- Check the page counts shown next to each file to make sure everything you expect is there.
- Need to add photos or scans? Convert them with JPG to PDF first, then merge.
What is kept
Every page is copied exactly as it was: text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their quality, and page sizes are kept, so a mix of A4 and Letter pages stays as it was.
Frequently asked questions
How do I combine PDF files into one?
Add all the PDFs, put them in order, and click Merge. The pages of the first file come first, followed by the second file and so on.
Is there a page or file limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large PDFs (hundreds of MB) are limited only by your device's memory.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be read without the password, and the tool will mark them. Remove the protection in your PDF reader first, then merge.
Will the quality change?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, including text, images, fonts and links. Nothing is re-compressed.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Merging happens in your browser. Your contracts, bank statements or applications never leave your device.
Can I add images to the merged PDF?
Turn the images into a PDF with the JPG to PDF tool first, then merge that PDF with your other files here.
